High Ground Farm, LLC
High Ground Farm is a sustainable farm surrounding a 1840's farmhouse that is on the National Historic List with barns on the rolling Harnett County Hills surrounded by a 20 acres old growth hardwood forest. The house and fields are the back drop for a blackberry and raspberry field offering in season berries; herb and cut flower gardens offering bouquets and bunches in season; heritage endangered Java chickens that grace the pasture and forest for hatching eggs to assure the breed survives. The Java is a original homestead bird bought to America in the 1700's; Angora Goats grazing and looking cute provide Mohair which is made into yarn for sale on the farm; farm homesteading classes (foraged wreath making in fall/winter; biscuit making); herb and plant sales and tours promoting preservation and sustainable living via stewardship of the land, livestock, produce, architecture, and wildlife. The peaceful remote environment is a critical part of tours and classes. It is a serene place to enjoy the beauty of life 200 years ago. Pick up on the farm: Pasture raised, heritage breed hen eggs, Seasonal farm flower bouquets, Heirloom produce, Blackberries in July, Tomatoes in July, Basil, Bay and other fresh herbs in June.
